BLOOD PROFILE (Continued)
Beta-2-Microglobulin (B2M) - is a cell
surface protein found in most cells. blood elevation of B2M is associated with many
conditions including immunologic disorders, rapidly growing tumors and cellular
destruction of leukocytes in HIV infections.
Reference Range: 0 to 2.7 mg/L
Bilirubin - Elevations of Bilirubin are
associated with liver or biliary tract disease or various hemolytic blood disorders.
Reference Range: 0.1 to 1.5 mg/dl
BUN - Elevations of Blood Urea Nitrogen
(BUN) are associated with renal (kidney) disease.
Reference Range: 5 to 25 mg/dl
CDT - Carbohydrate Deficient Transferrin
(CDT) is a highly specific marker for heavy alcohol consumption.
Reference Range: Male 0 to 35 ug/mL Female 0 to 66 ug/mL
Cholesterol - Elevated Cholesterol levels
are associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
Reference Range: - Age 40 to 29 -140 to 200 mg/dL, Age 30 to 39 - 140 to 220 mg/dL, Age 40
plus - 140 to 240 mg/dL
Cholesterol/HDL Cholesterol Ratio - indicates
the degree of risk for coronary heart disease (CHD). This ratio is valid even under
non-fasting conditions.
Reference Range: 1/2 the average CHD Risk - 0.0 to 3.3, Average CHD Risk -
3.4 to 7.4, 2X Average CHD Risk - 7.5 to 15, 3X Average Risk - Over 15.0
Complete Blood Count - CBC - is a measure
of the most commonly requested hematologic parameters. It includes red blood count,
white blood count, hemoglobin and hematocrit.
Reference Range: Male - Red Blood Count - 4.3 to 5.8 mil/ul, White Blood
Count - 4.0 to 11.0 th/uL, Hemoglobin - 11.0 to 15.0 g/dL, Hematocrit - 40.0 to
50.0% Female - Red Blood Count - 3.7 to 5.1 mil/uL, White Blood Count 4.0 to 11.0
th/uL, Hemoglobin - 11.0 to 15.0 g/dl, Hematocrit - 33.0 to 46.0%
Cotinine - a metabolite of nicotine, is
an indication of tobacco or nicotine use.
Reference Range: 0 to 9 ng/mL
Creatinine - Elevated Creatinine levels
are associated with abnormal kidney function or conditions affecting muscle
breakdown. Creatinine may also be artificially if there is enough delay in
centrifugation of the specimen to results in spuriously low glucose values.
Reference Range: 0.5 to 1.7 mg/dL
