BLOOD PROFILE (Continued)
Triglycerides - Elevation of Triglycerides may be
associated with an increase risk of heart disease or pancreatitia, or as an indicator of
uncontrolled diabetes, and a number of other conditions.
Reference Range: 0 to 150 mg/dL
Uric Acid - Abnormal Uric Acid levels may
indicate renal failure, gout or metabolic diseases, severe liver disease, exposure to
toxins including alcohol, or cancer.
Reference Range: Male - 2.5 to 8.5 mg/dL, Female - 2.5 to 7.5
mg/dL
DRIED BLOOD SPOT PROFILE
CDT - (Carbohydrate Deficient
Transferrin) is a highly specific marker for chronic heavy alcohol consumption.
Reference Range: Male - 0 to 35 ug/mL, Female 0 to 66 ug/mL
Cholesterol - Elevated Cholesterol levels
are associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
Reference Range: - Age 40 to 29 -140 to 200 mg/dL, Age 30 to 39 - 140 to 220 mg/dL, Age 40
plus - 140 to 240 mg/dL
Cotinine - a metabolite of nicotine, is
an indication of tobacco or nicotine use.
Reference Range: 0 to 9 ng/mL
Glucose - Elevation of Glucose may
indicate diabetes mellitus.
Reference Range: Age 0 to 50 - 65 to 115, Age 51 plus 65 to 125 mg/dL
Hemoglobin Aic - indicates the degree of
blood glucose control over the preceding six to eight weeks. This test is useful in
screening for or monitoring the treatment of diabetes, and is commonly reflexed from urine
glucose, elevated glucose or elevated fructosamine results.
Reference Range: 4.3 to 6.1%
HIV - Presence of antibodies to the
HIV virus indicates infection by the aids virus. In all cases of reactive
results, confirmatory testing will have been performed.
